This latest legislative act in Greece covers hotel and yacht charter bookings as well as ferry ticketing. It allows that clients can make changes to their booking should they need to. The wording is as follows:-

  1. According to the recent Legislative Act of 13/04/2020, it is provided that in cases in which:

Requests for a refund to passengers who cannot travel due to travel restrictions, or who do not wish to travel due to uncertainty due to the COVID-19 or due to the cancellation of their scheduled itineraries if provided for by national or EU law, are satisfied with the provision of a credit note of equal value to the beneficiaries with the price of the freight of the canceled trip.

The credit note is issued by the carrier and has an expiration date of eighteen (18) months from the date of travel. During this period, the passenger note may at any time make use of the credit note.

By the end of the credit note, the debt does not become overdue and receivable. The debt becomes overdue and receivable if eighteen (18) months have elapsed and the credit note has not been used.

These provisions cover claims arising from the cancellation of voyages or cruise ships and / or the prohibition of passenger traffic on ferry routes and international or cruise ships during the period from 25 February 2020 to 31 October 2020.

The same Act also states that:

Fee of all types of access, navigation, stern and mooring of ships / vessels, except cruise ships, are reduced by 20%, for the months of March, April and May 2020.

In case the obligors have pre-paid monthly, semi-annual or annual the fee, the reduction applies in addition to the respective discounts and in proportion for the months of March, April and May exceeds the amount of overdue 2020, any advance remuneration for the months of March, April and May 2020, offset or refunded.

  1. A joint ministerial decision has been published, which extends the ban on the departure of commercial pleasure boats until 15.05.2020

More specific the prohibitions of the present apply for the period from 15.4.2020 and time 15:00 to 15.5.2020 and time 15:00.
