October 2020, feels a little like end of August 2019 to us, we are seeing strong request from large yachts taking advantage of the glorious warm weather and sea temperatures! In the concierge department during a usual season we would see the majority of the planning and so creating itineraries during late spring/early summer months, where as this year it has been much later and of course last minute, in fitting with the current climate, for the first time we are seeing yachts requesting cruises into November and general tourism on some islands seem to be extending the tourism season by many weeks.
So what can you expect during these autumnal months in Greek waters? The meltemi has stopped blowing, many captains will be happy to hear, mainly in October you would expect beautiful weather which could be interrupted by a few sudden days of rain, of course keeping further South is usually where you will find the best weather. Small islands and the Cyclades will be very quiet, mainly locals, perhaps busier at the weekends, eat like a local (maybe take your own wine), but a chance to experience what life on a small Greek island off season is really like.
Larger islands will have more to do as they have a larger year-round population and the cities of course offer plenty to see and do. Museums, archaeological sites and guides operate all year, so there is a chance to see your favourite sites without the usual crowds.
Ask us for a late season itinerary, including hikes, diving, best restaurants, quiet anchorages and take advantage of the later Mediterranean season!
