The Ionian Islands

Located on the western side of Greece, the islands of the Ionian Sea are famous for their gorgeous beaches and the lush greenery. Corfu, Kefalonia, Zakynthos and Lefkada are the most popular with many available activities on shore, while there are also few other secluded islands with very good anchorages for swimming.

Famous as the legendary homeplace of Ulysses, Ithaca island is a paradisial island for total relaxation. It has amazing lush greenery, gem villages and beaches with blue green waters. Kioni and Vathy are the most picturesque villages, while wonderful beaches to swim are Filiatro, Sarakiniko and Agios.

Paxi is a wonderful island in the Ionian Sea, geographically located south of Corfu. It is mostly famous for the exotic beaches in the close, uninhabited island of Antipaxos. Paxi has three small seaside villages where many private yachts and fishing boats moor in summer.

Lefkada (Lefkas)
Famous all over the world for the exotic beaches, Lefkada island is a fabulous place to visit for summer vacations. This island of the Ionian Sea, geographically located west of the Greek mainland, has the most amazing sea color. Beaches, like Porto Katsiki, Kathisma and Egremni, are among the most photographed.

Meganisi is a small island with lush greenery and blue green waters. It is located just opposite the port of Nydri in Lefkada. Vathy and Spartohori are the main villages on the and also beautiful coves for anchorage can be found around the island.

One of the most cosmopolitan islands of Greece, Corfu is located on the northern side of the Ionian Sea. It charms visitors with the lovely beaches and the relaxing feeling. Corfu Town reminds visitors at first sight with the Venetian style, very much of Italian towns, like Venice and Florence. Many beautiful beaches are found around the island, such as Paleokastritsa, Agios Gordis, Nissaki and others. Also it’s worth visiting the Achilleon Palace, in Gastouri, a small palace was built in 19th century for the Empress Elizabeth “Sissy” of Austria.

Famous for the exotic beaches and the picturesque seaside villages, Cephalonia is an island ideal for family and romantic holidays. Due to its large size, tourism is spread and the island keeps its quiet, laid back style even in high season. Fiscardo, Myrtos, Antisamos, and Assos are among the most beautiful places to visit on the island. Do not miss to visit Melissani and Drogarati caves, two of the most beautiful sites of the island!

World famous for the amazing beaches with crystal waters, Zakynthos island is fabulous for summer holidays. The most impressive beach is Navagio (the Shipwreck Beach), accessible only by boat. Zakynthos Town is the main town on the island, with interesting museums and a Venetian Castle on top of the hill above. Nice mountainous villages also dot the countryside, as well as old monasteries. Do not miss to visit the “blue caves”!
